Restfully: We don’t have a taxation problem, we have a spending problem.

No budget since 1996 or 97, only CRs.

Balanced Budget Amendment cast in stone.

Amendment requiring “clean” bills, no pork riders.

Line item veto. .

Term limits

Congress is as addicted to spending as a junkie is to heroin. They consider it as the divine right of kings was once considered.

Why? Lifers stay for life and grow wealthy gorging at the public trough.

In the end, we have allowed it. Unengaged and uninformed voters are to blame.

You are correct, it is the spending problem and it needs to stop.

A capital gain is not even a gain if the purchasing power of the US Dollar is not the same as when the asset was purchased! This is another INFLATION TAX by another name!

The Art of Government is to make voters believe that problems are more “difficult” than they are- and politicians the only ones capable of their solution.

I have said for years the quickest path to a second American revolution is to stop tax withholding.

Capital gains should not be taxed. Getting rid of it would free up some housing movement allowing people to move or downsize. Many do not sell because of capital gains. A neighbor moved out-of-state and is not selling due to capital gains. It will be inherited by his children instead. It would be great to have it apply to all transactions but over age 70 would be a huge help. The boost to the economy would likely offset taxes not paid.

Also a great idea to have people write out a check for taxes. I have been promoting that for years. I would hire part time help if not for the payroll headache that takes almost as much time as the employee would work and payroll processing is expensive for one employee. A small percentage of several full time employees but too much for part time help. It is much easier for employees to fill out a schedule C than to process a payroll.

Automatic tax payment was never about convenience, it was about making sure that the government got the money. Too many people would spend all they had and come tax time have nothing to send.

What we really need is to get rid of these all in one bills for spending and limit.

If we had bills that had a spending cap of $10 billion per, it would mean hundreds of bills, but increased clarity. We might need a slightly larger cap for a few special projects, but those could obviously be in a single bill by themselves.

Every bill should have the list of sponsors as well as the goal and what constitutes success or failure. If its successful, we might be able to wrap it up. If it fails, we need to shut it down.

The simplest fix is to BAN SOCIALISM IN AMERICA. no more AOC's, No more Pelosi's or Shiff's! Dem's are fine, as long as they kick the Socialists out of the DNC. Socialism is not compatible with Democratic Republics! only ADULTS in government so we spend only what we take in. Balanced budgets!

So if Hitler came out of retirement, and ran for Senate, that would be ok? Stalin or Lenin? Mao? no, we cannot have our personal rights in a Socialist Dictatorship! They stole the election in 2020 by manipulating the Dominion machines. and all of a sudden, a minority wins!

That is how Dems talk about you and you add credence to their argument by your stupid over the top comments. The people are free to choose who they want within the requirements of the Constitution. Who will decide who should be banned? You? Nancy Pelosi? By the way, those people are not "retired", they are dead.

How about eliminating age as a reason to get tax breaks?

I am in my 70s and just by nature of my age, I get benefits that I don’t need.

All tax cuts should be based on need, not age. There is no reason for the young, who can barely afford their rent or mortgage, to subsidize me!

I don’t mind and actually like private businesses giving me an age related break but that’s a business decision and they don’t force the young to subsidize it.

I like it. The problem is "logic". Property taxes make you a renter not an owner. You don't pay and they take your home. Elect people who make sense and who think and do what they say. Check them out first. Make them sign a prenup, do what you say or you are automatically fired.
