As I stand here today, with the dust of the political battlefield settling, I can't help but feel a surge of pride and vindication. President Donald Trump, with unwavering courage, has corrected one of the gravest injustices of our time by pardoning nearly 1,500 individuals swept up in the aftermath of January 6, 2021. These are not criminals; these are patriots, and they have been wrongfully labeled as insurrectionists by a system determined to vilify dissent.
From the very beginning, the imprisonment of peaceful participants in the January 6th events was an affront to American justice. This was no insurrection; it was a passionate display of concern for the integrity of our democratic process. These Americans were exercising their First Amendment rights, expressing their grievances against what many believed was a flawed electoral process. Yet, they were met not with understanding but with handcuffs, cages, and years behind bars for what should've been treated as civil disobedience at worst.
